Ms. Weis was Vice President and Chief Administrative Officer (the chief operational executive) for Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. Her work involved overseeing 60,000 employees and coordinating overall institutional strategy and operation of Mayo Clinic’s $9 billion healthcare system.
Shirley Weis has held a number of clinical and administrative leadership positions in her career including chair of Administrative Services for Mayo Clinic in Arizona, chair of the Mayo Clinic Managed Care Department, executive director (CEO) for Mayo Management Services, Inc., chief operating officer (COO) for Blue Care Network Mid-Michigan and emergency services manager for a Lansing, Mich., healthcare system.
She is an accomplished speaker and author. Her new book, Playing to Win in Business, has received an eLit Gold Award for Business and is #1 in the Amazon Women and Business category. Based on her award-winning book, Shirley will bring actionable leadership insights to our GIC HIMSS attendees.
